It has a wide insecticidal spectrum, has excellent systemic and osmotic effect, and shows high insecticidal activity at a very low dose. The agent is very safe to mammals, birds and aquatic organisms, and has no phytotoxicity to crops. The main targets are rice planthoppers and brown planthoppers. Imidacloprid is effective against white planthoppers, but has little effect on brown planthoppers.
